Sligo Music held it’s first Industry Day on Thursday 27th October, bringing a host of specialist industry speakers to Sligo for a day-long conference. We had a brilliant response on the day, with a really engaged group of musicians gathering in The Model to hear from some really excellent speakers. The day was pitched as a 101 on how to engage with various aspects of the industry, from recording and labels to gig getting and promoting, building an online presence for your music, finding alternative sources of funding and support, and talking to the media – old and new.

The information given by the speakers was really invaluable, and Sligo Music is delighted to be able to make it available to listen back to, or to download from today.  If you were there and want to recap, or couldn’t attend on the day but still want to learn more, we’d encourage you to listen via the Industry Day downloads page, or the soundcloud links below. We also had the day’s proceedings filmed by the talented Peter Martin. You can watch these talks on Sligo Music Vimeo Channel.

There was such a great energy on the day, and such enthusiasm from the attendees (listen to the vox pops if you want to get a flavout of it) that we feel it’s something that might be worth repeating in the future. If you were there on the day, and have any feedback please do e-mail sligomusic@asquared.ie

A huge thank you to all the speakers who travelled and gave so generously of their time and expertise, to the organsing committee, the attendees and to Sligo Live and The Model for their support.
