Sligo Music Industry Day
Sligo Live collaborates with Sligo Music, a group of professionals passionate about Music and sharing information and knowledge with musicians in the North West.
During last year's festival we co-hosted an Industry Event with Touring as it's theme.
Festival Reps, Agents and Artists shared how best to approach touring in Ireland and abroad. The day featured workshops and lightening talks to help musicians plan their next musical venture. Featured guests include Peter O’Sullivan, Word of Mouth Agency, Steve Reddy, First Music Contact – FMC Tour, Music from Ireland, HWCH, Dan Hegarty, 2FM and Eurosonic, IMRO and more. And finished with over dinner in the beautiful atrium gallery. The perfect opportunity to hatch travel plans with friends old and new.
The information given by the speakers was really invaluable, and we’re delighted it is available to listen back to, or to download from Sligo Music. Sligo Music held it’s first Industry Day on Thursday 27th October 2011, bringing a host of specialist industry speakers to Sligo for a day-long conference. We had a brilliant response on the day, with a really engaged group of musicians gathering in The Model to hear from some really excellent speakers. The day was pitched as a 101 on how to engage with various aspects of the industry, from recording and labels to gig getting and promoting, building an online presence for your music, finding alternative sources of funding and support, and talking to the media – old and new. Sligo Live was delighted to support this project.
