We'd like to thank all those who applied so far to play at Sligo Live 2012. Due to the volume of applications we have been unable to apply to each submission individually, but rest assured we listen to everything we receive. As part of the programme we will run a showcase for emerging bands and artists with a number of acts playing gigs with no cover charge in all sorts of venues around Sligo. We will select one or two from 2011 and offer a significant support slot for Sligo Live 2012.

Recent beneficiaries of this policy have been folktress Rachel Sermanni - who played Osta Cafe in 2010 and returned to Sligo Live in 2011 to open for both Elvis Costello & Admiral Fallow in 2011.  Trad-fusion act JPTrio performed in Bus Eireann Station in 2010 and then we brought them to Celtic Connections, Glasgow in both 2011 & 2012. Indie act The Gorgeous Colours performed in McGarrigles in 2011 and were chosen for our Celtic Connections Glasgow stage in 2012. As result BBC Scotland picked up on them and broadcast four live songs on radio and placed them in their video highlights of the entire 18 day festival.

If you would like to apply for a slot in 2012 please drop us an e-mail. We receive between one and two hundred applications each year and hold a selection, based on applicants clips, sometime in June. If possible please attach an mp3 of your music or even better a online link to your material. For acts based in Ireland please note we also love to receive links to Breaking Tunes profiles.
