Saint Sister’s music draws from early Celtic harp traditions, 60s folk and electronic pop to create ‘atmosfolk’—a mix of soulful vocal harmonies, dreamy synth and electro-acoustic harp.
One of their first gigs saw the duo open for Arcade Fire’s Will Butler. Their debut EP ‘Madrid’, received incredible support on Irish radio and went on to be playlisted on BBC Radio 1 and German national radio, 1Live.
They have toured extensively throughout Ireland, UK and Germany. They made their US debut in March at SXSW. Festival appearances include Glastonbury, Latitude, Electric Picnic, Longitude, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, and Other Voices. Following two sold out headline shows in Dublin and this Sligo Live appearance as guests of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Saint Sister play their first headline Irish tour this November, before supporting Mutual Benefit across the UK. ‘Stunning’ – Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1 ‘The thick, eerie electro-folk of Ireland’s Saint Sister, not so much haunted as delicately possessed’ – The Guardian
‘It’s easy to get lost in the minimal, chasmic, but beautifully arranged soundscapes’ – Stereogum ‘A thrilling piece of music with menacing drum beats and typically wonderful harmonies’ – The Independent People to watch in 2016 – The Irish Times ‘There is certainly a feeling that if Saint Sister’s ember catches a spark, it’s hard to fathom that their sound couldn’t traverse and captivate the globe’ – Hot Press Magazine
