Lynched are a four-piece traditional folk group from Dublin, Ireland, who combine distinctive four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, Russian accordion, fiddle and guitar. Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, and their own original material. A live TV appearance on Later With Jools Holland has seen this bands popularity soar in recent months.
Sara Watkins is a singer-songwriter and fiddler from California. She debuted in 1989 as fiddler and founding member of the progressive bluegrass group, Nickel Creek, along with her brother, Sean, and mandolinist, Chris Thile.
In addition to singing and playing fiddle, she also plays ukulele and guitar, and played percussion while touring with The Decemberists. She has just completed a Nickel Creek reunion tour in celebration of the band’s first release in seven years, A Dotted Line.
She has three solo albums, Sara Watkins and Sun Midnight Sun on Nonesuch Records, and her latest, “Young In All The Wrong Ways”, which was produced by fellow fiddler, Gabe Witcher of the Punch Brothers, who put together a band that includes two of Witcher’s fellow Punch Brothers: guitarist Chris Eldridge and bass player Paul Kowert. Providing harmonies are Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan, Watkins’ bandmates in I’m With Her, and Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
Sara and Sean Watkins also produce the Watkins Family Hour, a monthly residency and podcast at the Los Angeles venue Largo, featuring an eclectic group of guest musicians, comedy and more.
